NaPoWriMo Day #9
Today's prompt: "You can read English translations of “Ode to the Dictionary” at the bottom of this page, “Ode to My Socks” here, and “Ode to a Large Tuna in the Market” here.
Today, we’d like to challenge you to write your own ode celebrating an everyday object."
Ode to Apple
I see in your glossed ruby shine the lure
That drew Eve and her husband to their fall
Once serpent’s whispers from the garden’s shade
Took hold and sealed humanity’s dark pall.
And who can blame Snow White for falling prey
When offered such a jewel of a fruit:
Flesh like white marble lined in fragile silk
And sweet as nectar from the cup of Zeus.
Oh apple, who can thwart your charm
When witch and serpent scheme with spite?
For I would fall to death or sleep
To taste one perfect apple bite.
